At one with India's oppressed

Irish Jesuits, along with their friends and colleagues, will be taking part in the annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, 18th- 25th January, 2013. This annual event, sponsored by all the main Christian denominations, witnesses to our willingness to pray together and to our hope for further progress towards the goal of visible unity.

The resources for the Week of Prayer are based on material compiled by the Student Christian Movement of India, along with the All-India Catholic University Federation and the National Council of Churches in India. So when we pray privately, and even more when we join in an Ecumenical Act of Worship, we remember all who are oppressed in India, as well as asking for the unity that Christ wants in his Church.

Most Irish dioceses have their own programme of activities. For those living in the Dublin area the Week of Prayer will be launched at Saint Thomas Indian Orthodox Church, Cathal Brugha Street on Friday, 18th January at 8 p.m. For some useful resources visit and or listen here to the Jesuit podcast series on 'Ecumenism and Hope'.
